Hi all and a quick question.

I have seen an advert for Baader cleaning fluid. My question is this.

Has anyone heard of/used this to clean lenses and if so, is it any good/worth the £14?

It was developed for optical telescopes which have far more delicate coatings compared to camera lenses, I have used it in the past with good results on both optical scopes and camera lenses.

It will last a fair time so is pretty good value.

The £14 includes a cloth, if you already have a micro fibre lens cloth there is no need to buy it as well, the fluid alone is around £9 I think.

Baader is for the optics only, Eclipse is the sensor cleaning fluid, I would not use the Baader on the sensor

That depends. How big is the bottle? If it's more than 2 litres, then it is worth £14.

Baader Optical Wonder Cleaning Fluid is nothing more than propanol:ethanol:water (35:25:40). You can make your own by getting a litre bottle of vodka (about a tenner) and adding half a litre of propanol (£5 from Amazon). Personally, I just use propanol and water, about 50:50.
