Where would I find a stand to use with different back drop materials? To help with portraits etc, not looking to spend the earth, am open to any make do ideas if anyone has come up with one!
 
There's one on gumtree in Essex for £120, but cheapest in photo shops is around the same price, presumably not heavy duty.
Check out freecycle in your area.

Or make your own from plumbing waste pipe :)

DIY Corner:
3 x 40mm x 2m solvent waste pipe @ 4.48
2x 40mm compression 90 degree @ 1.68
2 x buckets @ 1.05
1 x bag ready mixed cement, 1/2 for each bucket @ 5.00

I got a stand and 2 backdrops (1 white and 1 black) for around £60 off ebay last year and it's really good. It's 3 metres wide and 2 high and the material backdrops are very good quality. The creases from folding drop out very fast and are thick enough to block the light from behind.
 
Found this on eBay with 2 soft box's anyone any thoughts on it, seems ok for a living room set up for baby shots?
