Back up camera recommendations

I currently use a 6D for weddings\Parties etc but looking to branch out on my own next yr and want to have a back up in case an issue happens on the day. I don’t want to spend a £££

Any idea’s on what will be suitable
 
The ideal solution would be another 6D as you wouldn't have to worry about re-learning the ergonomics in a high pressure situation.

Failing that you need something that gives the same field of view with your current lenses so that is a FF Canon, budget will dictate which mk you get.
 
If you buy an APSC body, you'll need to add a new UWA too.

That could be cheaper than a 5dII, but a 5d classic might be a solid bet.

Though I'd suggest you should be considering redundancy of lenses too.
 
I like the back up camera to be the same as my main camera, I duplicate the settings in both.

That way, the quality of the files are the same, I know no matter which one I pick up, I don't have to think about it. Not layout, not cropped factor, not ergonomics or even things like both taking the same kind of cards.

I back up my lenses by having a set of primes and also zooms for the same focal lengths. Just get a 16-35 and 24-70 would be the zooms and then a set of primes. I know you said you don't want to spend $$$ but honestly, you are doing yourself a dis-service by not doing so. Invest in yourself and your business and it will reward you in the long term.
 
As others have said. If you are happy with the 6d, why learn to get to grips with another model? Now that the mk2 has been announced, I'd guess the original will ease in cost.
You know it makes sense....
