Backing up 'methods'

I'm in need of an easy back up method, the ideal scenario would be that I have two 500GB HDDs, one internal (in my PC), one external. Once I save something internally it also automatically saves a 'copy' externally. Does such a system exist? Or is there anything similar........

You probably wont get software that automatically backs up the instant you make a change, however there is software that compares the contents of both disks and updates the second one if it find a change.

Beware though if you have a lot of data the scanning alone can take some time.

Both Maxtor and Freecom include this software with some of there external drives, so in essence it comes free

I use Microsoft Synctoy (it's free) for doing this sort of thing - it's not real-time, but I run it at the end of each 'session' (i.e. copy photos from camera to PC, prune the set, export, post process etc) to an external or NAS drive

If you have room in you PC stick a raid controller in and a couple of drives , setup mirroring, everthing will be saved in real time to each drive.
