Backpack help

Hi guys just wondered if any of you use a traditional backpack for your camera when hiking.

What I mean in traditional are the ones by North Face, Karrimor, Berghaus etc.

I'm looking for a non camera backpack that will provide decent protection for a 1D3 and short lens but also have a bit of room for general stuff like sandwiches, water bottels, rainproof etc.

I know its a long shot but i'd love to hear of any suggestions.

I frequently use one in London if I'm going somewhere that I don't want it to be obvious that I'm carrying a camera.

I tend to use a Salomon skiing pack and protect the camera with a couple of fleeces. I've also got a 55l karimore-like for more heavy duty stuff (and a gen 75l somewhere).

Like you I've got a 1D3, but I protect the lenses more than I do the body, usually with a Sigma or lowepro lens case.
