Backpack/slingpack with tripod capability

Hi all. I've been looking around for a backpack/slingpack type bag that will carry a tripod lashed to the outside. Obviously there are several that fit the bill from Kata, Lowepro, Tamrac etc. The only other criteria is that it will take my gripped 50D with 70-200 2.8 L IS USM attached and a couple of lenses. The tripod I use is the Redsnapper RS-284 with RSH-12 ball head. Does anyone use such a bag with this size tripod attached? If so then how secure do you find it etc? Some of the tripod pockets, both attached and removable, that I've looked at look a little small and shallow. Thanks for reading and for any advice.:)
 
Lowepro flipside 400 AW. I have gripped 5D2 with BlackRapid RS-7, 70-200F4, 24-105, 12-24, 1.4xTC, 50mm 1.8, 580EXII couple of filters all in the back. I have the same tripod and it fits fine on the back carrying frame (helps that it is the 4 section one). £54 from Jessops if you don't mind green (you need to use a discount code for that tho).
 
Lowepro Slingshot 302AW securely takes my Giottos MTL tripod on the side, and accomodates gripped D90 with 70-300mm attached... not sure if a 70-200/2.8 is much bigger than that. Also have umpteen other lenses/accys in the bag.

The disadvantage is of course that all the weight's on one shoulder, but so far I've had no issues as the strap is wide and well padded.

I'll second the Slingshot 302AW, it's an updated version of the 300W.
The new version also has a proper waist strap for support unlike the 200AW I owned that has a silly strap to connect to the shoulder strap.
My gripped 50D with a 70-200L IS f4 and 1.4x extender fitted with ease and the same applies with my 100-400L.
Also room for my 10-22 with a hood and 24-105L.
I find it very comfortable to wear when loaded with all my kit.
The tripod is held on the right with a strap and that is also the facility to hold two of the legs.
It supports my Velbon Sherpa 435 quite happily.

Thanks for the input guys. The Lowepro will clearly take the gear I need to carry, but I'm not sure about the comfort of that single strap for a looong day out. I think I'm leaning towards the type of bag with strap options to go from backpack to sling.

I use the LowePro Mini Treker which sounds like just what you are looking for, holds quite a bit and has a pocket for the tripod to rest in
