Backpack suggestions please????

I've just been online looking at backpacks / slingbags / fastpacks and I'm even more confused than ever!! :nuts:

I have a Lowepro slingshot at the moment which I like as the camera is quickly accessible but it won't be big enough with my new lenses.

I'm looking to fit a 7D and 70-200 lens with two other fairly long lenses in it and an smaller prime plus my flash gun. Ideally if it had a laptop pocket as well that would be great.

Does anyone have any recommendations?

There's plenty on the market - you are absolutely right. Try Lowepro Bag Finder on their webpage, it is very handy and might help making that decision. I would also sugest going to the shop and "physicaly" browse through what you might be interested in. I purchased Lowepro Vertex 100 AW recently and i'm over the moon, the ag is fantastic :)
 
Just bought a Flipside 400 AW (£54 delivered from Jessops as long as you don't mind green which makes it less likely to be seen as a camera bag). Being delivered today. No laptop but I came down to Lowepro being the best compromise of all the bags I looked at (on the net).
 
PS I have 5D2 gripped, 12-24Sigma, 24-105L, 70-200F4L, 580EXII, nifty fifty and expecting all this to fit easily with space for more. May even try fitting the 450D 18-55IS in too.
 
Thanks for your advice. I didn't realise Lowepro had a bagfinder :thumbs:

Will look at the flipside as that's a bargain!

In terms of the bag itself, it fits the equipment well but I do have to have it slung either high or very low (to use the waistband). But I'm 6'8" so nothing ever fits me properly...
 
My Flipside 400aw turned up yesterday, £51 lol

Sorry to butt in, but is there much room in the front section on the Flipside 400?

Got a 300, but could do with some more space for other items

Claire, a lot of these camera bags are designed for a man and their shoulders are generally wider than we females.

I would advise that you get to a physical shop or shops and try them on - with the equipment in you want to carry. EVERY bag feels different and the weight will alter how it sits on you. Plus your clothing under the bag.

Depends what you mean by "much". Just for you, I managed to get 5 tins of chopped tomatoes in there - you could probably squeeze in 6 (best I could think of as an idea of volume). I've also folded up my goretex jacket and that just about fills it (with the cans removed of course!).

Enough room for a couple of snacks and sarnies with a coat over the top under the compression straps that are there for it. Don't forget there are two water carriers either side of the bag too and there are places to add LowePros modular containers too. Basically could carry what you need for a simple day hike, but nothing more.

I want to suggest the lower pro fast pack 250. Bought it recently n brought it to Scotland, with all my gears in it including my laptop. It's a good bag!

Thanks very much for your efforts, sounds like it will do for my waterproof and grub, won't tell my missus about the toms though otherwise she will have me shopping on the way home.
 
LowePro Mini trekker will fit one long lens and couple shorter lenses with other supplies, filters, flash etcetera. You sound like you may need a roller or somthing on the xl side.

Thanks Tina I hadn't thought about that, I was so pre-occupied on making sure I found one that had room for everything.

I will certainly take a look at the other recommendations as well - thanks everyone.

Looks like I need to consider space and comfort and if I can find one that doesn't look pig ugly it will be a bonus!! :thinking:
