I am looking for a backpack that can hold a 7d body with a 400mm f/5.6 L lens attached plus hold a 430 flash, 17-55 lens, 70-200 lens 1.4 extender, plus the normal bits and bobs, plus have a tripod holder/attachment.

The length of the lens alone is 28.5cm long and approx 10 cm diameter, then there is the width of the 7D body.

I just wondered if anyone can suggest a good bag, don't want anything too huge or too expensive.

many thanks in advance

For that kind of yomping I use a Tamrac expedition 7 for the exact same coombination and it still has plenty of room for other lenses, flash bits and pieces.

A major reason I went for the Tamrac rather than an equivalent Lowepro was that the Tamrac mounts the tripod centrally rather than at the side which I find a bit of a nuisance on rough terrain. It does however make opening the bag a little more tricky. But then at least I can open the bag without having suffered a twisted ankle.
