couls anyone offer suggestions have been looking at lowepro bags but a lot of the reviews appear to suggest the tripod carrying straps are a little flimsy
 
I've got a lowepro vertex, feet of the tripod sit in a pocket (that you can remove if need be) , there are two straps that secure it to the bag, the lower one can be moved up and down and the top one reaches over the top of the bag. Works fine.

Im glad you just said that, I just ordered the Lowepro Vertex 100 today, one of the main reasons was its ability to hold a tripod securely
 
Nanneu Pro carries my Slik 400DX no porblems, that's only a little lighter than a redsnapper.
