Hello I’m going traveling round aus and Asia for a year. I’m looking for recommendations on a travel tripod. It’s gotta be compact but needs to be able to support my canon 5dmkiv thanks in advance Carl

Have a look at a used Gitzo 1 or 2 series "Traveller" tripod. I use an old 1 series (G1550T) which is fine for my 1DX and short (up to 100mm) lenses.

The Feisol CT3442 is well worth a look too.

What’s the size of the gitzo at its minimum? Thanks

Which one? There are quite a large number of current and previous generation ones to choose from!

My G1550T is 14 inches, but this tripod is at least 2 generations (three?) old. For current models just look at the Gitzo website - the older (cheaper) generation equivalents are about the same as far as I know.

This is a newer version of mine, not cheap but might be worth a punt?

The Feisol mentioned above would be a good bet, very compact and light. Usually go for pretty good prices used too
