Yes
i went for a walk yesterday and i never leave home without taking my favourite lens 100mm macro lens:love: so i put it in the bag.
As i was hiking i had the camera round my neck with my wide angle lens on.
some water i had in the bag leaked pretty quickly, maybe 750ml-1L i realised straight away but my lens was soaked:bang:
i havent used the lens as i thought id let it dry and there was condensation all the way through the lens.
has any1 had experience of this will i get watermarks on the glass?
if i have to get it cleaned where can i get this done? and how much does it cost?
anyother help greatly appreciated as im very ****ed off at myself :help:

P.S. any advise not to keep water in my bag ne more im way ahead of you:thumbs:

Stick it in a bag of rice (capped, obviously) and leave it in an airing cupboard or close to a radiator for a day or so.

125 views and currently the fate of my lens rest with some rice:'(

It could be worse, a fat arse sat down on my daughter's lens...

Sorry to say, but if that was mineral water or water with salts dissolved in it, well you will get those salts crystallizing on the glass, electronics. That also means, it will attract moisture and rust it very quickly, if it hasn't done so already.

I would take it to a repair specialist, and get it looked at ASAP, if not too late.

pretty much. Or some silica gel or water absorbent crystals. until it dries out, you can't apply any electrics, and you won't know of any marks that might have been left

Let it dry out slowly...over a number of days and away from direct heat.

If it was bottled water you may be ok re watermarks as it may have lower mineral content etc.

Once it's dry the. Take photos of a White piece of paper and also a grey card. On your pc view at 100% and see if there are any visible marks on your photo.

If IQ is compromised then you'll need to send away for a professional clean. I don't where is best for this so I'll let others advise on this part.

Fingers crossed for you.

That made me chuckle

Dave, If you have any, there's always the possibility of claiming on your insurance?

uncooked rice is very good for absorbing moisture and is probably the easiest solution.

I doubt the water could ruin image quality more than specks of dust,t he worst it could do is cause more flare.. if the lends works that is :)

Don't be impatient, let it dry for several days before you test it. it only takes a little water on the electronics to break it completely.
