i'm looking to pick up a shoulder bag to use second shooting at weddings because i don't think a backpack is really suitable. so i've been looking at some of the lowepro range, namely the 'nova' and 'stealth reporter' ranges.

i had a look at the nova 200 in jessops today and it seems a bit on the large side, the stealth reporter d300 looks to be smaller and have plenty of pockets with a zip opening on the top flap for easy access.

i'll be looking to store a gripped 30d, sigma 24-70 f/2.8 and a canon 50mm f/1.8. adding a second body, 85mm prime and some sort of 70-200mm f/2.8 in the forth-coming months.

both are similar prices at jessops at £60 for the nova and £50 for the stealth reporter. is it worth the extra tenner for the larger bag, filling it as i expand my kit (adding weight as i do). or do i stick with the smaller bag and travel light for the time being, upgrading to a larger bag when the need arises later?

my head hurts!

Stick with the smaller bag, shoulder bags aren't fun to work out of when they're loaded with gear. I've got the D300AW and it's great, mine holds a D700 with 3 or 4 lenses and flash plus all sorts of bits and bobs. The zipped top is fine in theory but not much good for pulling a decent sized camera out of, certainly not a gripped 30D. Lenses/flashes yes, cameras - not really.

I have had a Nova and a Stealth and the difference in quality is huge, I found the Nova quite disappointing for a Lowepro product it just feels flimsy compared to the Stealth, one thing I didnt like about the stealth though was the AW cover as you have to unclip the shoulder strap to put it on, the Nova had the edge on that score as you could easily put the AW cover one and still open the lid..

still, you have definately made the correct choice out of the 2.

just ordered the stealth reporter d300 for collection at the local jessops early next week. it was down another £10 aswell, so i got it for £39.99 :) result!

Good choice, and what a great price, I'm sure mine was £85 or so not so many months ago.
