Yes
I am after advice for a safari trip. I am after a bag that will take a 7D with the sigma 50-500 mounted. Reasonable padding and dust proof are important criteria. Ideally a shoulder bag that can carry this 'standing up' - not too keen on rucksacks.
I like the Billingham 445 but it does look big. I will only carry the above, a 15-85, spare batteries and few bits and pieces.
The lens is 22cm long! Many thanks.

I use a rucksack Lowepro Flipside 400AW that takes a 7D and Sigma 150-500 which is a similar size.

+1 for this bag.

I have this and it fits at least the following:

Gripped Canon 7D
Spare Body
150-500mm lens
50mm lens
10-20mm lens
28mm lens
Flashgun
Rocket blower

Then an iPad in the front with various filters, lens pens etc.

Very comfortable when fully laden as well.

I also have a lowepro flipside 400aw.
Highly rate it! They also recently brought out 500aw model witch is longer so perhaps mounted with hood on.

Sorry I couldt advise on a shoulder bag

Good point, the lens hood when using the 400AW has to be strapped into onto the bag (there are plenty of straps to do this, can still get the monopod/tripod on as well).

Have you looked at Lowepro Outback 200 Bag , they can take a 7d with grip + canon 100-400 fitted , My bro-inlaw has this set up , I also use the same Bag and carry a 50d gripped with a 300 f/4 l is ( with a 1.4x in place ) all fit the main bag and a 70-200f/4l is in one of the side pockets !!.......look them up at http://www.morrisphoto.co.uk/
hope this helps .

Thanks all for advice. I've ended up going with the Think Tank Digital Holster 50. It is very similar to the Lowepro Outback 200 but as I have a Retrospective also... Thanks again.
