Hi all

I've need some bag recommendations. I have a lowepro vertex 100, which is great when I need to bring loads of kit, but its a little too big for casual street type of shooting. What I need is a smaller bag that will fit a gripped D700 with a Nikon 24-70 ( with hood reverse mounted), and possibly a SB900 ( although that's not a deal breaker).

Ideally I'd like it to be waterproof or have an cover built in. I've seen the lowepro toploader 75 and it looks ideal, but at £75 it's a little expensive.

So can anyone recommend me anything suitable that wont break the bank?

My Thinktank Retrospective 10 takes a 1D MkIII with a 24-105L fitted, with room for a 580 EXII and pockets for all the other usual bits and bobs plus a 17-40L if needed. I also carry a Gitzo 1542T under the top flap. Supplied with a rain cover. Over your budget but there was one for sale here and I'm not sure it was sold. Even at full price they are worth the cost, the quality of materials and construction is superb and it is a joy to use. Buy right and buy once.

The lowepro stealth reporter 300 should take the D700 and 24-70. Very nice bag indeed

I would say that the toploader you've seen would indeed be ideal. Plenty of room in the main body for a D700 (ungripped but plenty of space for one) and the pocket on the front (unpadded) will hold a flash as well as the waterproof cover. Still be space for batteries and cards as well. Yes, £75 isn't cheap but compared with the D700 and 24-70 f/2.8, it's hardly expensive either!

Not sure about that Tones would probably need the 400 if he wants to include the sb900 as well. The Nikon 24-70 is a good bit bigger than the Sigma you had.

I was kinda hoping that it would all fit in a 200! I could live without the flash fitting in. It's mainly just to have a more manageable less bulky bag for if I'm doing street stuff etc.

I have the 300 and I think attached to a body with a grip it would be a tight fit. Will fit no probs if not attached to the camera body.

Actually looking at my 300 again I have changed my mind remove all the dividers and it should be fine.
