I know there's always questions about bags and I have more camera bags than my other half does handbags but I'm struggling now I've got a D800 to fir everything in!

I tend to go between two bags - a Lowepro Flipside 300 which I bought for a Sony A77 + Sigma 100-300 f4 and my everyday Berghaus bag which has a camera padded compartment from another bag in the bottom, however I find that when I go out specifically to take shots that the Lowepro isn't big enough and the rucksack doesn't have a tripod holder which is a pain.

I'm looking for something that can carry my D800 with a 24-70 f2.8 fitted and take along with me another lens or 2 (primes), maybe my Sigma 100-300 F4 (but would maybe swap out the other lenses), my Grad Filters and the other usual bits of kit (remote, batteries, memory cards, etc)
I'd also like to be able to fit a few non photography bits in like my glasses, wallet and my Samsung Tablet (10") and I'd probably prefer it was either waterproof or had a rain cover (always like the Lowepro Covers) - I've had a quick look in Calumet but I'm a bit lost - The Vertex 200 AW looks a nice bit of kit if a bit heavy and I also had a look at the Lowepro Pro Runner 450 AW which again seems a decent bag for the price.

I just wondered if anyone had any recommendation on bag they use for a similar purpose?
 
Have the vertex 100 & 200 - both are excellent, really waterproof, carry tons of kit but a bit heavy (LOADED) - :D..
The 100 I used yesterday, but I couldn't get the kit I wanted in it..

so I compromised:

Nikon 300mm f2.8 Vr2 attached to D800e
Nikon 70-200mm f2.8 Vr2
Nikon 1.4 tele
Nikon 2.0 tele
Nikon SB800 flash
2 x Yonguo 622 triggers

Also in the bag was:
basic cleaning kit, cloths & brushes
8 spare memory cards,
5 x Nikon spare batteries,
Optech strap,
Black rapid strap
USB leads
USB cards

Didn't need the laptop so left that - cos it poked out of the 100 :( .....

Had to leave the 28-70 at home..
 
The 200AW has my 400mm f2.8 inside (unattached) & is fair bit bigger... it will easily take my laptop - lol
When I start using the 400mm more I'll probably get the 300AW (as will need to also carry a tripod !!!!!).
 
you got to be an army brad to carry all that lot surely all day long...admire your stamina:clap:
 
Used to be - in the 80's :D - ex parachute regiment.. so this is nothing....(y)

Well for now the Pro Runner is going back, having filled it and measured its actually too large for carry-on luggage even for a "non-budget" airline like British Airways and I'm not willing to take the gamble that my kit ends up in the hold!

Might take a look at that Vertex for now and worry about a travel bag early next year instead.
 
I'll get a pic of the 100 V's 200 if you want - the 200 is a fair bit larger & my gut feel is on the limit of being as large as practical. The 100 'I think' will have no issues getting as carry-on (& loaded will absolutely exceed any weight limits - ;)) - the 200 may get that unwelcome attention.

If you tell me exactly what you are putting in it I may be able to replicate it for you - & post a pic - with weights.

I'm currently in France on holiday with my bags & some of my kit but will be back at the weekend.

I also fly normally BA - dont do the budget airlines - they are far to tight on luggage...lol
