Bag without flap?

Hi all

I'm facing the bag dilemma that befalls us all!

I'm trying to find a shoulder bag without a flap, as I find the flap gets in the way if I'm trying to grab my camera.

It needs to be big enough for a OM-D, 45, 20 and 9-18 plus maybe a compact brolly and a scarf. Doesn't even have to be a camera bag, as I could get a padded insert. Would prefer something plain and discrete.

Any suggestions?
 
?? most have flaps as extra protection against the elements etc and act as an extra bit of protection against pick pocketers etc...


what you could bo is get the padding out of a 'camera bag' and use this within a more convenient bag or something perhaps??
 
What about a messenger type bag and just fold the flap over to the back of the bag?

True, but water-resistant zips exist and a decent pick-pocket will get past a flap. Besides, my wife doesn't get her purse pinched every day despite her handbag just having a zip :)

That may be what I end up doing (I thought I'd hinted at it in my first post). But I have struggled to find such a bag that isn't horribly branded or made out of rippable PVC...

I might try that (I have a messenger bag for my work commute - but I don't take my camera with me). I suspect it may look ridiculous! (well, more than usual).

The Classified looks a bit big, but have discovered the Crumpler Mild Enthusiast. Might get one of these and see how I get on with it.

They do come in different sizes..

160, 200 and 250 if i remember correctly.. i use a 200 myself and i wish i'd got it years ago.. despite looking at it dozens of times.

But absolutely get what you think will work for you.. even better if you can get to a shop and see them in the flesh as it is hard to tell by a photo online.
 
Yes, but even the 160 looks big for a CSC. It's not so much the volume but the height - in a bag designed for a DSLR pointing downwards a MFT with prime will disappear!

Shopping options are limited by a full-time job and a baby! :)

Decided to hold off for the time being. Off to Paris this weekend so will use my Lowepro Exchange Messenger left over from my DSLR days and live with the flap!
 
Hmm, think I overreacted about the Passport. I think the sticky-up bit makes the dimension seem much bigger than the bag actually is.

Will have to see if any local shops have one to play with...
