There are Wimberley copies for as little as £125. Not sure of the quality, but how hard can it be to make one of those?

The Benro copies are not much more expensive than that, and of known very high quality. There have been a few threads recently, such as this one with a lot of relevant info http://www.talkphotography.co.uk/forums/showthread.php?t=173444

Top quality ball head is a Benro J-2. You won't get better for £100, from here http://stores.shop.ebay.co.uk/DCs-Photography-Store__W0QQ_armrsZ1

Hi,

best buy for the money is the Manfrotto 393 Long Lens Head, around £100 and in my opinion along with many others on this forums it's a great buy :D

Mike.

Although it's not a massive lens I use my 80-200mm with a cheap ball headed tripod I got off fleabay for £60 new. I've used it with a 100-400mm Canon and 80-400mm Nikon too, and they've been fine. Okay, it's probably not anywhere near the spec of a Wimberley but I suppose it depends on what exactly you want to do with it....

EDIT: This is the tripod package on amazonUK - here - might be able to buy the heads seperate.

Have you looked at the Redsnapper heads?
