You (might?) be relieved to find this isn't another thread enquiring if you can recommend a £10 tripod to support a 5Kg load.

I need a bit of help (if anyone is in an obliging mood) on the subject of Ball Heads.
I have a set of Manfrotto 190XProB ally legs in the cupboard - but no head - having swapped the 460MG head it used to carry onto my 055MF3 carbon legs.

Thing is, I'm going to give the 190 legs to my grand-daughter (12) so need to buy a head for them. I've donated my 350D and kit lens to her already so this is what will sit on it.

So, I was cogitating on the best (cost/benefit) way forward with sourcing a head. I'm tempted by this offering...

...but wondered if there were suitable alternatives which fitted the bill.

The Redsnapper would cost me fifty quid and I'm wondering if it would be overkill for what it will have to do.

It also occurred to me that someone on here might have a ballhead they want to shift secondhand?

All contributions to the thought process gratefully received, TIA.

N.B. I'm off to the wanted section as well to see what may be around.

50 quid is a good price for a quality ball head which I've no doubt the Redsnapper is. You never want to worry about a ball head being overkill - underkill is the worry, they just can't be too well engineered. ;)

I've got one of those I've only used a couple of times, I prefer my geared head to a ballhead. You can have it for £32 delivered (£25 less than a new one).

Sold Sir!
At the risk of being hung, drawn and quartered for doing business outside the classified... May I suggest you PM me your details and I'll arrange BT.
Unless - of course - the mods suggest a different strategy :D

Concluded. Archiving.......... or at least I would if I could do it!
