Shame I use canon or id be bidding lol

[viewfromthenorth]

F5.6? Pah, I won't consider anything slower than 1.4......

[AshleyC]

hope he's got all the provenance to back up the claims.

Holy grial?

[Mozziephotography]

Grial? Australian?

[Bluetooth]

Holy grial?

I take it to mean rare as rocking horse manure, about 350 ever made only for special order.

It's astonishing, isn't it, that someone who is selling a $24,000 lens:
(i) doesn't know how to spell "grail", or can't be bothered to look it up or fix it;
(ii) doesn't know how to, or can't be bothered to, take decent pictures of it.

It makes me wonder whether it's for real. Although the lengthy description of the history of the lens does sound plausible, I guess.

[StewartR]

Anyway, if that's rare (and it is), this one is even more rare:

http://www.ebay.com/itm/NIKON-11-20..._Foto_Camcorder_Objektive&hash=item5afac4d647

http://www.ebay.com/itm/NIKON-REFLE...44772062?pt=Camera_Lenses&hash=item339518f1de

The total production run of those 2000mm lenses was slightly under 300 units. What are the odds that three of them would appear on eBay at the same time?

[StewartR]

And what are the odds that eBay would also have one of these?

http://www.ebay.com/itm/Nikon-6mm-F...69526896?pt=Camera_Lenses&hash=item3a98ac3970

Even smaller production run than the 2000mm (just over 200 units) and a real steal at only $91,000.

Here's another interesting one too: http://www.ebay.com/itm/Nikon-6mm-F...Lens-Museum-Conditions-VERY-RARE/251669526896
Sorry - snap

I like this comment on the listing:
...a lens that can actually see behind itself...

[Bluetooth]

You have to hand it to Nikon, they certainly make some weird and ugly looking lenses ! lol

[lightshipman]

Wonder if they autofocus!!!!!

[Jim Everiss]

Tried them all but prefer my Tamron.

[Derek_W]

I wonder if any of these lenses are ever used for their original use, taking photos? At $91,000 I expect not.
It seems a shame that they're bought and sold as commodities. But I sometimes think twice about taking my camera out and about if it's raining or I'm in a dodgy area and it's certainly not worth $91k!

[Techy Guy]

I'd bid but I've already got two of them.
