Bargain tripods

Hi, I'm just getting more & more into my photography & need to get a tripod so I can try to achieve those tack sharp images.
As I'm on a budget for now can anyone recommend a decent tripod for less than £50? I've found loads on Amazo, eBay etc but I can't seem to decide which is best.

I know it'll be a case of 'you get what you pay for' but I can't justify more than that for the amount it'll be used

If you can spare another tenner lots of member swear by the redsnapper budget tripod.

There were some Manfrotto 732CY and A3RC1 ex displays on eBay a couple of days ago...

Yeah I know, I bid on both of them!! But they went up to £70 including post & that was a bit steep

I'll look at the Redsnapper now

You should maybe borrow one and if you feel you could get plenty of use out of one save up a little bit more and buy a decent one.The Red Snappers are really good for the price

Can I jump in here with a related query - does anybody have a RedSnapper 284 and if so can you tell me how low it goes with the optional shorter central column ?

i bought my tripod for £12 from amazon because i thought for i needed it for it would do at the time, well.... that time has passed and the tripod has been used more than i ever thought i would and it hasnt let me down yet. really happy with it..... Hama

I got myself a FANCIER FT-6662A from off ebay with the ball head, cost around £50 when i bought it (cheaper now) used it about a dozen times & can not fault it for a light user like myself... using it with a 600D with battery grip no problem at all.

I've been borrowing my dads & I reckon I'd use it a few times a month so I really can't justify (or get away with!!) more money.

I've seen a nice looking Hama on Amazon, that's on the short list. Will check out the Fancier now.

Yes, and I was the winner! Not sure it's the one for me though so I may have to buy something lighter and more compact too...

I got one too. No complaints about weight really.

Well, it hasn't arrived yet, however I got it to lug around the sahara on holiday, so the weight/size will be critical for me. It says 1kg. I hope that includes the head, but probably not.
