I would love some thoughts and/or CC on this one. I don't do many B&W shots,
as I'm not too confident about getting the contrast right or not. So fire away ;)

Thanks in advance

The contrast in that is very high, pushing grade four and then a bit too (for the old school folks ) but then I like high contrast.

I used to make most of my prints and those for clients who didint' ask for otherwise at about grade 4.3 and then work the lost detail back in with far to many different exposures within the print.

There are some very small areas where you've lost some (what I would consider) wanted detail to black. They are really very small areas though and I'd personally far rather see a picture with strong blacks and whites than one with nothing but tones going from light to dark grey.

Great shot Jo, I really like this. I think the B/W works very well; yes its contrasty, but not ott for me. The wake of the boat separates it from its reflection brilliantly! Nicely done!

That's really good Jo
masses of detail in the big'un
contrast not a problem
I'm always scared I'll overdo it,
you've given me hope!!!

Thanks guys (y) I may not be so scared in future
