Barkfly

These were captured in our garden yesterday, hand-held as I followed the barkfly around the leaf it was on, using an EF-mount Laowa 100 2X macro lens and 2X and a 1.4X teleconverters mounted on a Sony A7ii with a Sigma MC-11 EF to E adaptor, with a Venus Optics KX800 twin flash mounted on the hot shoe.

The raw files were processed with a preset in PhotoLab 4, with image-specific adjustments and output to 1300 pixel high JPEGs using Lightroom, and output sharpening and noise reduction using the AI Clear method of DeNoise AI with default settings on the JPEGs.

There are 1300 pixel high versions of these images in this album at Flickr. Details may look better viewing the 1300 pixel high versions unresized on a calibrated screen in subdued light.

Thanks Graham. I've been pleased to discover that my current flash setup (which I've transferred across from my bridge camera, just stretching the arms out a bit further) will deal with higher magnification shots like these without having to make any adjustment to where the flash heads are pointing for the lower magnifications that I most often use. That is very convenient.
