Batch conversion of raw to jpeg

I have 400+ shots I want to convert from (Canon) raw to jpeg.

Granted, I only tried to do this over breakfast - whilst getting the kids ready for school, but PS (Elements) failed after a while as a result of having too many files open.

So, am I missing something or is there some other tool I could use?

Cheers.

CS3?

I don't have elements but this might be the same,

in photoshop I go to

file/scripts/image processor

If you wish to convert them auto why did you shoot in RAW in the first place? Or do you just need some proofs.
May be your PC is not up to it Of you need CS4?
Why not do say 100 at a time?

I'm giving the shots to an external party - so RAW is of no use to them.

Breaking down into smaller batches is an option, but it would be easier to get the machine to do all the work in one go. As I said, I've not really thrown any time at this yet, but was wondering if anyone had a solution.

If you use DPP, click "select all" then choose "convert and save " under the file menu. Though I think it's better to convert say 50 at a time so your CPU can have a break. Running 100% for a very long time might deteriorate its performance :)

:agree:

Canon DPP it was supplied free with your camera for a reason. Why on earth everyone thinks you have to use an Adobe product for photography is beyond me.

The very best raw converter for Canon is made by Canon and called Canon Digital Photo Professional

Another vote for DPP here, that is what it is meant to do and you should already have it!
