Batteries for 580EX II

How much battery power do you need every day? What the hell are you doing with them? I'm intrigued, honestly... :D

LOL, it's not every day at all, but when the mood takes me I always find all my damn batteries are flat.

Basically I am shooting birds in flight with high-speed flash. To do that and freeze all movement you need to switch to manual and reduce to about 1/8th power or less. Which means to get a decent f/number you need at least two and maybe four guns in a bank.

It's very much work in progress... ;)

I have have the Annsman Max-e (eneloope equivilant), with a travel charger if I'm desperate. Takes two hours to charge a set of 4 batteries.

However, I've never needed more than two sets, but carry three sets. Neither have I ever had a spare set go flat - that's the advantage of these type of batteries - they hold their charge.
Just carry a couple of extra sets.

LOL Byker. I am not Stephen Dalton! If I ever get near just one of his images, I'll be very happy indeed. But I am a huge fan, and cheers for the link.

I've even spent quite a bit of time with him, doing magazine interviews over the years. Brilliant man, fascinating, photographic genius.

Edit: to add this link. Check out his Stephen Dalton's website. Utterly amazing photographs :)

I doubt they would explode but you seriously risk reducing their life expectancy dramatically. Get a desk fan and blow it over them whilst they are doing their business !

My charger has an inbuilt fan:D.

I thought you were interested in Canon battery packs???!?

in which you place 8 x AA batteries

I've used maxpower batteries or something
normal old charger...takes ages to charge but they do well at 2800mAh

however, frmo what I'd read I'd vote for the eneloop ones too
and the panasonic ones, which perform better than more highly 'rated' batteries.
will be trying some myself at the next event I shoot in July

i'm never sure how good these sort of things are
ebay link

looks interesting though for much cheapness

I like those 7dayshop links, will probs invest in some myself

also for a complete pack this looks like a winner
batteries and charger, >3hours
