Battery for a D3100

I'm currently looking for a second battery for my Nikon D3100. Does anyone have any experience of using a third party battery in a D3100?

On Amazon there seems to be a lot of EN-EL14 batteries but they specifically say in their item description that they are for a Coolpix P7000 and that they are NOT suitable for a D3100. I obviously wouldn't buy one of those and try it in my D3100 but it is making me a bit wary of trying any 3rd party batteries.

Any help or advice is much appreciated.

I read something about this recently. As far as I understand you can only use the proper D3100 in the camera as they have a rom chip telling the camera it is a legit battery.

However, if you attach a grip to the camera you can then use two £6.99 batteries in the grip - just found the video http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=H7lAiNMxHLQ

Yeah, you can't use third party batteries in the d3100, but I can confirm that using a grip works, I have the Meike Battery grip and a cheap (£8.99) battery from ebay and it works a treat, although I've only had it a couple of weeks.

Thanks for the replies. Think I'll be shelling out for a nikon battery then. Don't fancy a grip at the minute.
