That's a good idea Brian - I've got some spare electrical cord somewhere. Tried the same thing with elastic bands but they didn't get enough purchase on the screw.
I also was thinking thin cord to 'whip' around the visible thread but IMO it is the friction and continuous grip that is needed.
So how about..............use a coarse cord like a very thin braided nylon string thin enough to go round the visible metal thread once or even better twice. Now attach one end to a screw fixed into an immovable support or maybe a lump of wood you can hold in a vice or simply on the floor with your foot> with the other end of the cord held firmly in one hand and the body held in the other maintain tension on the cord and push or pull the body along the taut cord (need to determine the right direction that will unscrew it).
My thinking here is the that attachment screw will give ever so slowly (maybe even quickly as you can see it must be loosened?) and by the method I outline spinning the screw...............just need to start carefully to ensure you make all the effort in the right direction i.e. do not tighten it inadvertently and close the gap to a point where the cord is seized.
I hope my description makes sense and that you can suss out what I am trying to describe
The principle of what I am trying to describe is like the "bow lathe" or "strap lathe" if you Google either term you will find videos and descriptions etc
Edit ~ been Googling for narrow diameter braided cord in quantities that will not break the bank. So maybe that will fit the bill to try the method and the darned thing off for you??? Found a 2mm cord in case needed
