Hi this could be a super silly question but here goes!

Got a battery grip for my 500d, plugged it in with two new batteries so all is good. I remember seeing somewhere people saying that they can see both batteries registering, how is this? I only see one battery icon and it just looks like normal, is this right? Is there any way to check both batteries are being picked up?

Anyway that's it, call me stupid but I'm asking anyway :bonk:
 
Can't speak for the 500D, but the 550D doesn't have the battery info available either. On the 7D & 5DII/III (and probably all the higher tier bodies) you can go into the menu and click 'Battery info' to show a graphic representaion of each of the two battery states, including how many shutters they have (individually) fired as well as their recharge performance.:thumbs:

On the 500D, you'll just get the 1 battery symbol on the display, whether you have 1 battery or 2 inserted...
