While i was out yesterday doing some shots.. i had a slight problem

iwas shooting away " one or two shots" and then nothing  i thought ahh the battery has gone. so took it out and put a freshly charged one in..

and within a minute or so nothing all had gone blank..

when i got home i put the 1st battery back in and it was fine ..!

this has never happened before i am thinking / hoping it was the cold

anyone had similer..

md:shrug:

Nope - but then I'm a Nikon man

Sounds like a battery problem, but it wasn't that cold surely to affect them so quickly, are you sure they were fully charged before you went out?

DD

how did i know you would mention the other brand ...

yes mate all were fully charged.. i did not think it was that cold myself

i dunno..

all working ok now.

I've had this happen before, yes, although the second battery I tried worked fine.

Tried the first one again later in the day and that worked perfectly.

'twas very odd!

Stumped then - I've very rarely noticed cold affect my batteries' longevity, and not at all since getting the D2Xs. A couple of years ago we did a 3 hour landscape shoot in -5 degrees with no problems at all

So... stumped

Maybe you have some loose debris in the battery compartment?

Are they rechargeable AAs then or the camera's own make?

I have known NiCads of old go dead in the cold, but never any of the own make batteries

I had this with all 3 of my batteries on Boxing day at Mallory Park, and put it down to the cold weather. Putting them in my trouser pocket seemed to make them last a bit longer. And when I got home they were all showing over 50% charged.

I had a similar problem on holiday recently. The camera powered up OK and would focus but wouldn't take a picture. Tried removing battery and memory card and re inserting them. Still no good. Then it just started working fine. Not had a problem since. Strange one. Had the camera since April 08.
