Right after just finding some new canon batterys for my 40d for a nice £2 each Im now sat with four more batterys taking my collection to six.

Dont suppose theres any speacial chargers out there or should I just buy 5 more. ;)
 
Never seen a multi charger for anything other than regular AA / AAA etc. I've got 6 batterys for my 550D and will have 9 altogether for my 7D / 5D MkII when they all arrive. It's either get extra chargers or spend a day in front of the charger doing 1 by 1 like I do.

Once you've got the first 1 charged stick it in your camera and get the wife or kids to change the batteries while you go out shooting, it's easy then.
 
I'm using 2 at a time in a grip on both cameras. Thats 4 taken up and I always like to have a backup set for each just in case. I ordered a grip for the 7D and got 4 free generic batteries included but I'm not sure if they will last as long as a genuine canon.
I sometimes go out camping for a couple of days at a time and the tent, while big and comfy, doesn't have electricity to use a charger. Lol.
 
I did hear of a story where a genuine canon ended up with reduced life after being combined with a cheaper copy when used in a grip. i.e. the cheaper copy shortened the life of the genuine canon one when used together? No idea how valid it is in theory but the guy said he would only use genuine ones again?
 
I've got 1 genuine with the 7D and 1 coming with the 5D MkII so I'll put both of them together in the grip for whichever I'm using most and use the generic batteries in the rest. I read about the copy shortening the life as well so I've not used the 7D battery since I got the grip, just the generic ones.
 
Mixing makes, types and even batches of batteries is not a very good idea. Small differences between them may result in one doing all the work or in extreme cases, passing a current the wrong way through the other.

Whereas this makes sense for most applications the batteries in most camera grips work completely independently in turn, so you can stick a fully charged one in with a dead one - won't be useful at all but it also won't discharge into the other one.

This is the case for the 550D/600D at least.
