Been offered a second hand pc...

Hey guys, I have just been offered a pc and was wondering if its a good buy or if I could make something similar for the money the specs are as follows...

i7 2600 cpu
ASRock p67 pro3 motherboard
8gb ram
Radeon HD 4670 Video Card
24 inch 1080p LED monitor
speakers/keyboard/mouse
I don't have information about the case or the hdds but I have a couple of 2tb ones in my old machine that I just bought a couple of months ago.

The price is £500, good or?

Or, option number two. I just spotted this for sale in the dell outlet store. I would want to get an ssd for it. The only thing that puts me off is that its sataII and not sure if its usb3 or not (the other one for sale is both these things)

Link no worky on that alienware. As a general rule though alienware is overpriced for the name, it's just boggo dell underneath.

The price of the first is pretty good, the i7-2600 is £250 odd alone. The graphics card isnt massively great but depends what you want to do with the computer. Asrock are considered budget, ive had one of their 775 socket boards as a temp and was okay though. Only thing I'd ask off the top of my head is what speed is the ram? More info on the drives and other bits would be a given not a bad price. Presumablly it's reasonably newly built? Incs windows 7 64bit?

"LED" would really only define the type of back lighting rather than the type of panel.

It could still be a "cheap 'n' nasty" TN panel rather than IPS.

I agree with the alienware prices being inflated, that one is a decent price due to being refurbed and a bit dated. I'm still waiting to hear back about specs of the first pc, like case/psu/memory and storage. I have bookmarked a ssd and gfx card incase I do go for the first one. The monitor doesn't really bother me as I have a fairly decent one I can re-use. I will post again when I find out a bit more about it.

I would say your first item is a very good price, regardless of monitor type.
