Nice set-up. I was thinking of getting the 393 myself but found that it's ok with a strong ball head. Do you reckon I would get a lot of benefits from the 393? I have the same lens.

I have to say the lens feels fantastic on the 393, but I've not tried it on a ball head to compare. Neither have I had much of a chance to use it, having left the charger for my D200 at university - won't have it back til Friday! :bonk:

Lens was £1100 second hand on ebay (but still in warranty and in exceptional condition). The TC was £106 new on ebay, and the 393 head £105 from Morris Photographic.

Still trying to decide whether to pick up a 2x TC as well, and whether or not to sell my 70-300VR or keep it for when I can't be arsed carrying the sigma around.
