Beetle ID please

Ok, these aren't great. This thing was so small (about 3mm long) and so fast, I couldn't get it to sit still... I really struggled to get any shots in focus. I do wonder if proper macro gear wouldn't have made this easier... perhaps, perhaps not... anyway...

Anyone know what this is ??
