Beginner after some lens and tripod advice please

I've recently got hold of a Nikon D3200 as my first DSLR as I want to get into and learn about photography with my main interest being in-door shots of my pet snakes, and in-door in reptile houses/aquariiums, outside shots of wildlife in the countryside and in zoos/parks and scenary.

I've got the 18-55mm AF-S VR kit lens, and ordered a Nikon 35mm f1.8 AF-S lens as a prime lens for indoor shots, and I'm now thinking about an all-in-one walkabout lens - the Nikon 18-300mm is well out of my budget so I've been considering the:

Sigma 18-250mm F3.5-6.3 DC HSM Optical Stabilised Lens for £320
or
Tamron AF 18-270mm f/3.5-6.3 Di II VC PZD LD Aspherical IF Macro Zoom Lens with Built in Motor for Nikon DSLR Cameras for £390

Both from amazon, so which would be the better choice?

I've also found that there seems to be 2 versions of the Tamron - Tamron AF 18-270mm f/3.5-6.3 XR Di II VC LD Macro Lens for Nikon and Tamron AF 18-270mm f/3.5-6.3 Di II VC PZD Lens for Nikon - what is the difference between them please? they can both be found On this page

Now tripods - I want something decent that won't topple or break and damage the camera, but that will go to 5 or 6 foot high, and have been recommended Manfrotto but they're a bit out of my budget atm, so what are Hahnel tripods like? I've been looking at the Hahnel Triad 40 Lite Professional Light Weight Aluminium Alloy 4-Section Tripod with 360º Lock-in System Ball Head and Free Carrying Case for £43 or Professional PRO 72" Super Strong Tripod With Deluxe Soft Carrying Case For The Nikon D5000, D3000 Digital SLR Cameras for £30 - both from Amazon, opinions?

The difference between the two Tamron lenses is PZD, piezo drive.

This is Tamron's version of Canon Ultra Sonic Motor, Nikon's Silent Wave Motor, Sigma's Hypersonic Motor

From the wesite you qouted "The addition of PZD (Piezo Drive) ultrasonic autofocus motor helps make this lens lighter, short and slimmer than any previous lens in this category, and provides faster, quieter auto-focusing."

A £30 tripod is as much use as a chocolate teapot. You are much better saving up for a better one. Why do you want or need to take pictures from such a height?

Ah cheers, so basically the same lens but one is a bit smaller? I was confused as one said it had a motor for the Nikon but the other didn't, but I guess thats the Piezo drive - so either will give auto-focus with the D3200?

I don't know enough about Nikons to comment

d3200 doesn't have motor built into the body therefore you will need the lens with piezo drive. how about the Nikon 18-200 afs ?
