Beginner DSLR camera

You're better off going to a shop and handling some cameras to see what suits you. The D3000 is a reasonable camera but if it doesn't suit you then it's not going to be enjoyable to use. eg I can use Canon cameras but I find the button layout doesn't suit my hands and I much prefer the handling of Nikons.
 
thing is I wouldnt really know what im looking for handling wise, as I have 0 experience in taking photographs, so I dont think preference handling wise will be an issue.
 
It's a good starter DSLR but is quite old tech now but for your budget if going new you are very limited (so consider is s/h an option for you?).
It uses a CCD sensor which is excellent at lower ISOs but gets noisier a lot faster at higher ISOs (1600+) than a CMOS sensor.
Also, it only can AF with lenses that have an in-lens motor which may limit your ability to use older s/h lenses.

You may also want to consider the Sony A290 (£300 at Jessops) & the Canon EOS 1000D.
Try to go to a shop & handle them to find which one feels best for you as if it feels uncomfortable you will use it less.

You also want to give some thought as to in which areas your photographic interst lies as that may influence your thinking & choice.

OK, you're a beginner and you want to take up basic photography, but you don't feel confident about choosing a camera based on the feel and handling.

What do you want to take photographs of? Do you really need/want a DSLR? Perhaps a good compact or a bridge camera might suit you better at this stage?

This crossed with your last post. For portraits, and scenery/landscape, your choice of lens is going to make a lot more difference than the camera if we're talking about entry level gear.

I dont want to have to upgrade after a short time, so I think this might be the best option
