I be in may need of another Canon Body for weddings use having provisionally sold two my older ones to a friend to free up some capital,
(5D (75k) & 1DSmk2 (50K)

I'm left with a 1DmkIII & 7D (7D is used by my assistant)

I've narrowed down to the following...

5D mkII & grip + extra battery (£1850+)
or
1D mk4 (body only) around (£3300+)

However a 2nd hand 1DSmkIII or another 1D mkIII of low mileage also appeals for the right money.

A limit able auto ISO & high ISO performance's is a priority, FF would make good use of my wider lenses when things get tight.

Thoughts on this one from those whom have the above cameras would be appreciated, I have a good range of lens so don't have to factor into
equation.

How do these compare in the field ?

The ability to shoot video might appeal in the future so maybe the 5D2?

Also, I would have thought a full frame like the 1Ds3 would be preferable to the 1D4 but i'll leave that to others who've had hands on experience with those bodies.

A lot of wedding shooters I know (including me) are deliberately shooting on 5DMKII's... Some prefer the weight of it ungripped and some (like me) are just happy to use it regardless. I can't comment on whether the 1D's (as opposed to 1Ds's) would be of much use but personally, I'd prefer to stay with full frame and the 5DMKII certainly serves my purposes very well. :)

Previously my main wedding camera was always a gripped 5D mk1 and was delighted, but I have been blown away by the way the newer 1D range software has been updates & the way they just handle, hence the moving on of the 5 years old camera bodies,

A new 5Dmk2 seems to me to have reached a good price these days & well suited to partner alongside the 1Dmk3 with its extra ISO reach,

But I cant help thinking that a fairly low mileage 1DSmk3 might cut it better for around £2350+ish
