Best/cheapest place for Skyports?

I'm going to be upping the ante on my off camera lighting this year and whilst I have the SU-800 sometimes it is not always the best solution due to range, sunlight etc. I was looking at going down the PocketWizard route (I also wanted the option of remote camera triggering but the amount of times I would use that function is limited so I've discounted that) but they have become so prohibitively expensive that an alternative solution must be out there. I've seen quite a few people on here mention the Skyports and I presume they will be suitable with my SB-800/SB-600 combinations.

Any recommendations for places to buy them or are they all much the same when it comes to price?

Ta.

My Vote goes for Robert White's in Poole. I have been over the moon with their service everytime that I use them, They may not be the absolute cheapest but the advice and customer service you get is worth every penny.

Another thumbs up for Robert White here.

 for both Robert White and Speedgraphic, as for the Skyports  but Cherryrig seems to get good commission shots from them

I wouldn't recommend WHE anymore :( Their after service support has been disgusting (on a Skyport fault too). Looks like I won't be spending my D700 and new lens money with them.

Col, do you have the new Joe Mcnally book? if not, get it, the things he does with an SU-800 and CLS has me stunned.
Just thought I'd let you know before you splashed out, more flashes might be better to spend the wonger on :naughty:

Hi Colin

Mine seem to work faultlessly on my D300 to SB800 and then slave to my other SB800's.

I got mine from The Flash Centre but only because they were part of the deal when I purchased an Elinchrom D4 kit in March.

Regards

Geoff

Thanks Tomas, I've just had an e-mail from Amazon saying it has been despatched so hopefully Tuesday. I'll have a good read of it and see if he can come up with any tips, the only downfall of the SU-800 is its range/line of sight limitation which is why I am looking for an alternative method. As for flashes I don't really need any more as I have one 800 and three 600's. ;)

Wait until you get the book, Unca Joe has some great 'extension ideas', hold onto the pennies for a mo mate :naughty:

I'll be looking to sell my skyports when the flexTT5's come out in the uk. I'll pm you when I get the pocketwizards, if you want?
