Beginner Best flash for Nikon D3400

Don’t want to spend more than day £50, but would appreciate opinions.

Doesn’t have to be be Nikon but will need TTL metering. Second hand is OK too.

All feedback welcome.

On my D3300 I used an old manual flash, results were hit and miss. I was going to buy a flash gun, but the D3300 does not support high speed sync. Not sure if the D3400 is the same.
