Yes
Hi Guys,

I need to get some coverage on my kit. Its to the point now where I can't afford to replace the whole lot if it gets broken or pinched!

I have heard bad things about Photoguard. Is that true?

I can envisage a couple different scenarios:

a) Loss of (whole/partial) kit through robbery - Are you covered?
b) Loss of (whole/partial) kit by dropping it in the sea - Are you covered?
c) Dropping my camera and big lens with both being broken - Are you covered?

Which policy would cover those sort of events? Do you have to provide serial numbers or receipts? I doubt I have all my receipts still but I could provide full serial numbers.

I need UK/EU cover but I am going to the states shortly so want the kit covered over there.

Also if I am shooting trackside at motorsport events do I need public liability insurance? When is public liability insurance needed?

From my point of view Photoguard are top of my recommended list because of their fantastic generosity.

Have a look HERE. But only if you are NOT a pro!

Nope I am not a pro!

I think I will give them a call on Monday to get a quote. Will they cover for all the scenarios that I outlined?

The best thing is to quote the 'Not covered' bit.

It looks like everthing else IS covered!
Have a read through the PDF though, then make your own mind up! You can print it off and sent that if you wish!

I've been with them for 3 years and currently have £10K of kit insured with them, not had any problems. Also have professional indemnity and public liability with them. :)

There you go! A reccomendation if ever I heard one!
Thanks Alison!

From when I was looking around, the biggest single differentiator seems to be cover for unattended vehicles, which many insures either don't cover or do so with serious limitations.

If this type of cover is important to you then make sure you read the small print, not that you shouldn't anyway :)
