Best IPS display for under £300

I've come to the conclusion I need to invest in a new display. I've been using the screen on my laptop which is calibrated with a Huey but I can't get close to match my screen to a test print even turning the brightness down very low. Yesterday I noticed when playing with the calibration if I moved the Huey window around the screen they grey bullseye target would shift dramatically from the top of the screen to the bottom.

So what can I buy that's max £300 and well respected? I have a Dell u2410 at work which is a cracking display but I can't afford to buy one at the moment :(

quite common on LCD displaces particularly laptops

I've looked on eBay but without knowing where they came from I'm not sure I'd want one. I also have £70 in gift vouchers to spend at amazon so I really wanted to buy something new. The u2410 is lovely though......

even apple laptops have rubbish TN screens - sadly that's the way it is.

I'd also suggest Dell IPS line, but also don't discount HP (you may need to dig down deeper). I have older 20" unit which does a pretty good job, except I now want 27".

Don't buy from the offices, or any business - they will be knackered. Only go privately if you are buying used, ideally with 2 years of warranty remaining. I suggest inspecting personally and collecting. Buying new is safer but can be A LOT MORE expensive. I've got mine roughly at half price and can't complain.
 
Amazon do the Dell U2312 - not as nice as the U2410, but for £186 it's a lot of monitor for your cash :)

I have a U2310 (refurbished from nrgIT) and U2312 (Amazon) as a dual monitor setup. Happy with both (could not tell the refurbished one from new, other than the packaging, which was good, but not 'new')

has anyone seen a review comparing the 2 dell displays. Other than the obvious reduced number of ports and PIP shouldn't be much in it I guess?

Most ex-office screens will have a copy of word or excel "burnt in" ;)

If you are worried about nrg.it, don't be. They are superb and their monitors always come as they describe. They will also answer any questions you have. The 2410 is also a very good monitor indeed, I had one before I got my iMac.

That's if you are lucky. I would expect permanent pen marks on the LCD, and a bit damaged frame.
 
LG do 3 fairly decent 23" IPS screens, which can be found for under £200.

agreed, the nrg_it ones are fully refurbed and acurately listed (inc any dodgy pixles). and they have warranty.
 
u2412 has reduced colour bit depth apparently & an economy version of IPS: e-IPS.

Then again it will still outperform TN panels if the reviews are to be believed, personally I'm saving for a U2410 from nrg.it on ebay.
 
Well got a massive bill this afternoon for our new bathroom and central heating I was expecting it but hey still hurts.

So my fuzzy logic say's treat yourself so i've just bought a U2410 I bought from scan in the end OCuk charge delivery but because i'm a member on AVforums I get free delivery so it works out a £10 cheaper than OCuk. Scan have cracking customer service as well

I am nuts I'm not going home!
