Best lens for action shots??

Hey fellas

What sort of lens would i need for action shots for my Nikon d80?

Would you say maybe a 300 or...?:shrug:

Action shots of what ?

The subject will determine the best lens choice for you :thumbs:

Also a budget would help, otherwise this lot will be spending thousands :D
 
It will depend on the action you are shooting, what sport (I am massuming its sport) are you looking at?

Ok with Motorcross you can get quite close to the action, so a long zoom isn't really required. If you did purchase a new lens, what roughly would you be willing to fork out. That would at least narrow down the choice.

There a long list of suitable lenses from the 70-300mm, 70-200mm through something like 200-400mm f4 ranging from several £100's to several £1000's

Something like the sigma 100-300mm f4 is a good all round lens, but it would help if there was a budget
 
I think that youre lens is just fine for motorsport. Maybe go for a fixed focal length 400mm for motosport, if you really want to expand, but you would be looking at a fair bit of money, probably over a £1000. So I think I would stay with your current setup.
