Best Long lasting AAA rechargable batteries?

Whats the preferred manufactuer?

Ive got some cheap AAA and they dont last long in the FM radio triggers, maybe half an hour :thinking:

Ive got some Energiser AA rechargables for the speedlite's and they're really good, but perhaps someone knows of a better make or are radio triggers power hungry?

I'm pretty sure I read you're best not using rechargeables in radio triggers as the voltage drops as they lose charge meaning they wont last as long.

I bought about 50 duracell procell AAA batteries for my triggers for about £15 or something from ebay. They've lasted AGES so far! Haven't changed them in about 3 or 4 weeks and they get used most days for 2-5 hours at a time. :)

I always understood that voltage drop-off is very slight in rechargeables until they go flat - when they drop suddenly - whereas alkaline disposables have a more constant drop of voltage from full to flat.

FWIW, I use eneloop rechargeables - very low self-discharge rate too - batteries with a higher self-discharge rate could be three-quarter flat already when you get them out of your bag, if they've been there a couple of weeks.

Thats pretty much spot on! rechargables are pretty constant through discharge, then fall off the edge when flat, hardly any warning.
Eneloops are usable direct from the pack and last very well during use.
They are more expensive but well worth the extra cost!
 
I've been using the Duracell Staycharged in mine, I use the AAs in my speedlites too.

Yup - and you might not be getting the best performance out of the units either. I used to use rechargables, and put up with the fact that I could not have a sync speed higher than 1/160 - however I then read that using RC batteries can cause this, even when fully charged so I tried non RC batteries and hey presto - sync up to 1/250 - and they last a lot longer than RC's do.
 
I use eneloops and have never had to replace them mid job.. Obviously I'd make sure I was using a freshly charged set at the start.

In fact I took my kit on hols with me last month as my brother in law is a musician over there and wanted some promotional stuff done.. I was doing nothing but ocf stuff in different venues and never had to change the batteries in the triggers the whole time we were there and only changed them in the speedlites once.

Only problem I have with eneloops is my lads keep bloody nicking them for their wii lol.
