Best of a bad bunch

My Canon EF 100 f2.8 arrived Tuesday after buying it from a forum member
and had a quick go, first on my canon 5d mk II then later in the day put it on my Canon 7D. This was the best I could got from my garden on 10 minute shoot, so looking at the quality of macro images on here I got a long way to go. I think this is a Hover fly please correct me if wrong.

It is a Marmalade Hover Fly. It takes a lot of practice and a lot of patience does this macro lark

looks fine to me too, i'm getting similar results on my first forays with the 100mm L and no flash.

collected some LED screen packaging today however to make a softbox to put on my external flash gun and see how I go

Thanks for the feedback all, I was using a flash on that shot on bracket and a cheap fold out softbox with an old flash on manual about 1/8 to 1/4 power.
