Yes
I'm after a 77mm UV filter to stick on the front of my Canon 24-105.
I dont want to go for a cheapo filter, but certainly dont want a high end one either.
Looking at the Hoya Pro1 UV filter which can be had for around £30-£40.

So, 2 questions really.....

1. Where is the best place to buy from? (I notice CameraKing on eBay offer the Hoya at a decent price - anyone had any experience of them?)

2. Is the Hoya Pro1 UV any good?

Cheers
Gary

1. CameraKing via amazon.co.uk for Hoya filters; they sure are cheap there and I've never had a problem with them so far

2. I find the Hoya HMC filters do the trick for me, guess it depends on how much you want to spend.

^^ I recently bought a couple of filters from Amazon as they are on offer at the mo.

One was from Camera King and the other was from PWC -all quick delivery and no problems

If you absolutely must fit a UV protection filter, Hoya HD is the best and I think Amazon are usually cheapest.

Hoya HD from Amazon does an excellent job on my 70-200 and was the best price on the net.

The actual company was Avides.com in Germany but it arrived quickly & reasonable postage charges, would buy again.

Ok which is better filter Hoya Pro1 or Hoya HD

HD has tougher glass and easy clean coatings. Best quality UV filter of all is none.

Yet another vote for Amazon. All of my filters have been from there (apart from when i was desperate and had to get one from Jessops). Amazon seem to be the best prices. The purchase protection that one of the biggest online retailers offer can't be overlooked either.

Wherever you decide to buy make sure it is a reputable supplier as there are loads of dodgy forgeries out there! Lots of cheapo £4 filters repackaged and sold as £40 Hoya pros etc. Happens a lot on Ebay.

What are people's thoughts on the filters on eBay? Do they have any use?

If you go to established sellers you should be fine just watch out for dodgy too good to be true deals. A genuine Hoya PRO CPL is NEVER going to sell for £14 for example.
