Best place to get a lens serviced?

Morning all,

Never had to have a lens serviced / repaired before so dont' really knwo where to start.

I have a nikon lens that feels gritty when zooming. doesn't feel as smooth as it used to so can only presume some grit or dirt has got in there.

who would peopl recommend i send it to? is it possibel to send it direct to nikon, or are third party places better?

I have used Fixation and found them to be very good.
