I want to selling some camera gear and wondered if anyone had any experience of ebay, not having used it, or any other suggestions would be appreciated

I'd say the For Sale: forum on here would be the most suitable but as your a new member you won't be able to access it yet.

E bay is good, all of my experiences have been mostly positive however I don't speak for the masses.

Ebay is fine if you dont mind paying 14% charges on your sale

I want to sell my Nikon D 90 and wondered if anyone had any experience of ebay, not having used it, or any other suggestions would be appreciated

Current minimum membership criteria : 30 days membership and 100 posts on TP, but its probably the best place to sell gear, eBay can be abit hit and miss.

You won't get a good deal with a 2nd hand dealer as they'll want a cut. Typical price for used D90 is £400/500, they would probably offer you £250/300 for it.

As a newbe myself i think the for sale here is good also look on pistonheads there is a classified camera section too

I've never had a problem as a seller on ebay but I bought a Canon 100-400 L that was a bit dodgy and took me ages to get my money back.
If you list things totally truthfully you should be ok. If you don't mention something then it will annoy a buyer.

For sale section on here work just fine too. Plus you don't have to pay the ebay fees. Things on here are less likely to go for a higher than normal price as people know what they are looking at. On ebay you can sometime get people paying way over the odds for things (thought it's never happened when I've been selling).

I too have never had a problem with eBay and I find that prices can go to silly limits.
For instance I offered a nikon lens on here a while back for what it was worth £200 ish. I have just seen the same lens sell on eBay for £310!
Prices on this forum seem to be very fair. So sell on the bay and buy from here.
This is only my humble opinion.

if you aren't already a member, why not join av forums

But don't fall foul of the nazi mods otherwise you will get an infraction or a life ban like me

My crime was objecting to provide references during the sale of a lens.

Sound reasonable? I didn't think so when i was the buyer and the seller would have had my cash via paypal gift (non-retractable or protected) and the goods too

Thought that put them in a pretty strong postion and can't see why they needed to know if I was a good buyer when they held all the cards

So beware as they are rather keen and less than friendly unlike here

+1 for Buy it now. BIN costs 40p listing fee, fairly low final value fee, but still the same hefty paypal sting. It makes sense to select the title carefully (@@@@L@@K@@@ is the worst example possible, yet common), and write a good description. Be careful with scammers. Normally, someone with >3 feedback and in UK confirmed address is a decent buyer. Shipping abroad is dangerous, so only go ahead if you are 100% sure.
