Best Price for a Canon EOS 7D

Best price I can currently find for body only is £969 inc VAT & P&P - anyone know of any better offers at the moment?

£1119 posted from RGB photo, and it will actually arrive and is a proper UK model with warranty unlike Simply Electronics.
 
Golly! The price seems to have dropped lately.

My local dealer seems to be very keen on prices and is often better or at least as good as what I can find (from anyone I'd be willing to buy from) on the net but they can't match that price. They have it for £1,119.99.

Tried Kerso?

PS. Just spotted the previous poster.... RGB is my local dealer. I've bought lots from them and will buy again.

Even at £1119 it's a temptng price but I think I'm heading towards the 60D for the articulated screen. Unfortunately I wont be buying from RGB as I have a Jessops gift voucher :) otherwise I would.
 
If you can get currys to do their price promise against jessops then they would be at £1135.
 
£970.0 from HDEW, one of my clients got one last week, verbal stock conf. and 24 hour delivery.

I am in a similar position, thinking about a 7D.

Normally I'd avoid greys like the plague, and certainly would not deal with Simply Electronics, but I am in a quandry about HDEW. Their price is about 10% lower than the cheapest I can find elsewhere and they throw in a 3 year warranty.

I am sorely tempted.

Camera Centre have just started what looks to be like a fairly aggressive marketing campaign in this weeks AP, advertising a UK sourced 7D + 4Gb card for £1099 +free lowepro case.

It doesn't say what make or speed the card is though, and P&P is extra.

FWIW following the experience I had with a 550d recently, I am very glad I paid the extra few quid and bought from my local shop whose service and support was excellent.

I know what you mean, and do like to support local businesses wherever I can, but the price differentials are high enough to make it worth looking.

If you're interested my conclusions are: -

- Best/safest import price: HDEW @ £999 all inc + 3 year warranty

- Best UK Product price: The Camera Centre @ £1,096 all inc + 4GB Memory Card (value ~ £20)

My decision? For less than a hundred quid difference a genuine UK product from a 'bricks & mortar' shop - The Camera Centre (unless you know different! :naughty:)

Was about to say, anything under £1100 is a grey import. Ok the Camera Centre has undercut that by 4 whole quid but the principle holds :)
 
Just add my 2p here
in the past few years I have bought 2 camera bodies and 3 Lenses along with 2 flashguns from Kerso two of which got the cash back as he gave me a receipt from Scotland and as such get UK warranty he is a top guy and usually competes with the best prices around
and on top of that he has actually phoned me from long distance to ask if everything was good (it was)
cant ever remember any store doing that for anything
so he will get a big vote from me

I have to be honest, I bought my camera direct from America and was lucky cos I didnt pay any taxes. I also bought one of my lenses whilst I was on holiday. It's not been a problem with the camera, I just needed a converter for the plug
As long as there is good feedback I'm not so concerned .. I am actually considering buying from Kerso as I seemingly get a 1 year guarantee too!

Price-wise he comes in between the two @ £1,075 inc P&P - undercuts The Camera Centre by £21, about the value of the free memory card (and with the file size of the 7D RAW files I figured I will be needing more cards!!)

He was certainly on my shortlist as he's someone who is 'known' through this forum (though I have never had the pleasure personally). Don't think you'll go wrong with him.

ps - just had a closer look at Kerso's eBay page; "Most items sourced from USA for competitive prices ... All items posted from Scotland so there is no duty or VAT ... I am happy to quote for any Canon lens or accessory. I can give a more competitive price away from Ebay & paypal" Might just give him a call before making a final final decision!! :thinking:

I considered Kerso for my 5DII and whilst his prices are great there is no VAT to reclaim as he's not VAT registered (though given his turnover I'd have thought he should be!). Buying camera for my company so made sense to buy from a pukka bricks & mortar shop (Wilkinson Cameras as it happens).

If reclaiming VAT isn't an issue then there are plenty of folk happy with Kerso's products and service though :)
 
Final post on this topic - order placed with (Ian) Kerso for an 'Off eBay' price - looking forward to getting my hands on my new 7D!! :love:

I had the same considerations a couple of months ago, but decided to pay the extra and go through the local Jessops. My thought were that they are local and I can take it in if there is a problem. I even added a 3 year warranty. However, I bought both my lenses before I bought this fantastic camera, my first DSLR. No regrets..

i've just found out today that my cousin bought a 7D body only from jessops. they didn't even bother to look around.
and apparently the sales staff offered her the window display with £20 discount. god knows how much actuation that one's got and only for £20 discount.
 
I am wanting a 7D, cash i abit tight but if i can get it for around £1k i will get one.

The only problem is i need it thursday at lastest as im going to wales rally gb late thursday night!
