Best Shop to actually try lens (Midlands?)

Hi,

I know that you can go into Jessops etc and try the most popular Zooms, Canon in my case. But, there really does not seem to be a large selection of lenses actually on the shelf anywhere. I am interested in trying out the Canon 28mm or 35mm Primes but have not seen them anywhere.

Are there any good shops left that actually have a large stock of lenses (ideally in the Midlands)?

If you get over to Derby at all LCE have a fairly good range in stock, Standard stuff and lower to Mid Range L, None of the really big 400+ Stuff though, and will be happy to help you and let you try them,

I have always found the staff in that branch very knowlegable and friendly.
 
I know Derby. They did me a very good part exchange when I moved recently from 550D to 7D.

They had a fair few lenses but not many Canon primes. I will keep an eye on them.

Can you understand my whine?
I will spend a bob or two more on whatever if I can get a local place to try something out. Just seems to be a real lack of lenses except for the fast moving walkabout zooms.
 
Try Calumet in Birmingham, good range on glass on the shelf.

Went there last week. From an old website I was directed to Aston. Saw sign on door saying go to Hagley Road. Couldn't for the life of me find it!!
