Best trigger for Nikon

Having recently moved from Pentax to Nikon (D7000) was wondering what is considered the best trigger ? I really liked the pixel soldier on Canon and Pentax ...
 
RF-602/3, Phottix Strato, Phottix Atlas, Pocketwizard.... all depends on budget and just what you need.

I use Phottix Strato triggers and they're brilliant, best triggers I've had.
 
Thanks, will have a look at the strato, had 603 before but no likey, quite liked the pixel soldier, see there is a new TTL version of these for Canon, but no mention yet for Nikon :-(
 
I used Skyports before the Strato and have to say the Strato kicks them out of the water for reliability. I've had 70m+ range from them and they do rapid fire on 1/4th power and below on my SB800s with the fifth battery fitted (fresh batteries of course), which is handy for action stuff. Of course, being a hotshoe-based triggers as opposed to the Skyports (that connected by cables) they're more compact and easier to set up.

I have the Mk1 Strato; the new ones have slightly better buttons and the transmitter has an off switch - the problem

Might be worth having a look at the strobist flickr group - there were some reviews/tests of the Soldiers floating around on there the other day, plus reviews of the Strato :)
 
thanks again. One of the reasons I changed from Pentax to Nikon was the better lighting control and faster sync for the studio lights ...
 
Sync speed with studio lights isn't a biggie for me - 100th is fine - but using triggers outdoors, mixing flashy with ambient, its worth noting that not all triggers will sync at the camera'd mac sync speed.... I get 1/200th from the Strato, when my cameras sync speed is actually 1/250th. Have heard of really cheap triggers struggling the achieve 1/125th before.....

This is why I quite like the pixel soldier, I have had a Canon one syncing reliably with Canon at 1/300th and on a Pentax at max 1/180th.
 
The thing with the soldier is despite the ever-so slight increase in sync speed, they're supposed to be hit or miss, which is a bit worrying because they actually look like decent triggers. Plus, I don't think they have ttl pass-thru on the trigger.

Things seem to be getting better in the world of triggers though, which can only be good for the punter :)

EDIT: I'm getting my Pixel products mixed up - got the Pixel King on the brain, the PW Flex rival. The solider actually looks fairly good, although a (potential) 1/3rd stop increase in sync isn't enough for me to move :)
