I have been offered a choice of camera accessory for my birthday next month. I am thinking about a new tripod head but would like some advice please. The budget is more or less £50.
At the moment I have a Hahnel ball head, and I get very frustrated with the drop when using my D3100 and 70-300mm lens. Hence I am thinking about a 3-way head, but would be happy with a ball head that doesnt drop when tightened with this weight (if such a thing exists). I will be using the head mostly for landscape, still life and occasional macro so speed of adjustment is not a major concern.
Having done some research, the Manfrotto 804RC2 seems to fit the bill, but the range of choice is rather bewildering and I am wondering whether anybody has experience of this head or can recommend a better choice from personal experience.
Thanks in advance,
Alet
