Best uwa for canon crop?

I have a sigma 10-20 which is soft down the left hand side, I'm off to the lakes for the weekend for 2 days and don't wanna come home to be disappointed with every shot. I'm gonna rent an uwa but don't know whether to rent the tokina 11-16 2.8 or the canon ef-s 10-22?
Anyone used both or either of these and can offer a little advice? My mate has a tokina 11-16 which is great but just wondered what it's like compared to the canon.

Hi I've got the Tokina 11-16 and it's great really sharp
After renting it you'll want to buy one:)
I haven't used the Canon so cant comment on that

I've used owned a few UWA in Canon/Nikon mount and for landscapes and Canon I'd go with the Canon- good range/ pretty resistant to flare/ sharp/ great colours and contrast

The Tokina is very good and obviously goes to f2.8. Not much between them in terms of sharpness but the Tokina flares more easily although it's not as bad as often made out.
In the Nikon camp I think the Tokina beats the Nikon offerings.

Sigma 10-20's suck big time- life is too short to find a good one- it's needle in haystack type stuff. Roll on an ART lens for it I say:p:D
 
I have a Sigma 10-20mm f/4-5.6 and it's fine, it doesn't suck at all ;)
 
I own both.

Get the Canon, it's got a better range and much bettter image quality. The Tokina suffers terribly from flare, whereas the Canon is the most flare-resistant lens I own. The Tokina also has worse chromatic aberration. Sharpness is about the same.

The only advantage of the Tokina is that it's f2.8 - which is irrelevant for landscapes. It only come into play when shooting interiors where a flash and/or a tripod are not allowed or when shooting wide-field astro shots (which is the only reason I've kept mine).
 
Thanks for the replies everyone. I'm stuck as the canon is reviewed as the slightly better lens but the 2.8 would come in handy if I decided to do some star shots. Having said that the canon opens up to f3.5 @ 10mm so I'm sure itd let enough light in? @RumpFace I'll put a few examples up in an hour or so :)
 
My canon 10-22 arrived today and despite early days with the 20 or so test shots I've taken, i'm very pleased. Controls flare well and seems super sharp. Plus build quality is better than I expected for an ef-s lens. I went for the canon over the Tokina based on range. The 11-16 seemed too short for me.
